Description

Montgomery County has established itself as a national leader in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The county’s commitment to reducing the impact of the built environment on the natural environment is reflected in the adoption of the 2018 International Green Construction Code (IgCC).  Montgomery County’s adoption of the 2018 IgCC incorporates increased energy and carbon emission performance thresholds, likely requiring on-site renewable energy systems for many projects.

Design of a new public high school in accordance with Montgomery County’s 2018 International Green Construction Code (IgCC) required early analysis of greenhouse gas emissions and renewables.

The presentation will feature lessons learned thus far from the design team of Montgomery County Public School’s Crown High School, on track to be one of the first projects designed and permitted under the new code.
