Description

 

Across Montgomery County government departments, work is underway to establish policies and programs outlined in the Climate Action Plan to meet our emissions reductions goals of 80% by 2027 and 100% by 2035. The County’s Climate Change Officer will provide an overview and update on climate planning and work plans. The Department of Permitting Services will discuss ambitious green construction and building codes and key changes for developers to be aware of. The Department of Environmental Protection will discuss the new electric vehicle purchasing co-op to address emissions in the transportation sector as well as Building Energy Performance Standards which will reduce emissions in existing public and private buildings. Finally, the Department of General Services will discuss innovative projects underway to save energy, add renewable energy, and improve resilience to County-owned buildings.
