Description

This presentation will discuss the success story of the Forum Condominiums, built 1972, 16 floors, 229 condo units, 328,00 sqft, located in North Bethesda . It will cover how the condo association worked with Green Bank for funding, collaborated with contractors, and established a scope of work that would meet the condominiums budget while achieving their energy saving goals.

The Forum condo focused on  HVAC equipment replacement. The Condo replaced the existing two (x2) water-cooled chillers and three (x3) boilers with new magnetic bearing water-cooled chiller and three (x3) condensing boilers. The scope of work also included installation of  Variable Frequency drives on their Condenser Water , Chilled water and domestic water pumps with added increased  energy savings of 162,000 kWh/annually Reviewing energy efficiency measures that where eligible for multiple funding incentives to help fund the project .

Working with Green Bank they were also able to install new elevators ,gearless whereas the old ones were geared machines.  These  three elevators will each save approximately 68 kWh per day, or 24,820 kWh per year.  All three will then save almost 75,000 kWh annually.
